May 25, 2023

  • Erythromycin 250mg and 333mg caps have been discontinued by their manufacturers, review the memo for recommended alternatives for PPROM latency antibiotic regimen. 
  • The SOGC recently released a statement about potential shortages of Misoprostol across Canada.
  • The PHSA pharmacy procurement team has been in communications with Health Canada and there continues to be stock available at pharmacy distributors across the province. 
  • We do not expect there to be an interruption in availability of Misoprostol in British Columbia.
April 19, 2023
  • There is an ongoing provincial FSE Shortage, Philips has discontinued its production of FSE and Cardinal has shipped its last batch of FSE until the end of summer. 
  • Cardinal will be able to support historical usage, but not until January 2024. 
  • Must reduce use by 50% to avoid running out of supply of FSE’s. 
  • Strict conservation strategies are currently in place to reduce usage - please review memo for full details.
  • Weekly provincial FSE counts led by PHSA supply chain have been ongoing since May 17, 2023 to ensure equitable access to FSE and discuss any local issues with supply.
