Perinatal Services BC (PSBC) is proud to announce the launch of the Pregnancy & Parent Learning Centre, a new interactive, online prenatal education platform designed to support new and soon-to-be parents and caregivers living in British Columbia.
Expecting a baby or becoming a parent is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. To help families feel confident and supported, Perinatal Services BC launched the Pregnancy & Parent Learning Centre (the Learning Centre). The Learning Centre brings together reliable information on pregnancy, birth, postpartum care and early parenting all in one, accessible place. Whether you're preparing for your first baby or supporting someone who is, the Learning Centre is a trusted resource available to everyone—anytime, anywhere.
The Learning Centre was developed in collaboration with health professionals, educators and organizations across BC and Canada, to ensure users receive evidence-informed health information from trusted sources.
The Learning Centre was launched to provide everyone living in BC with improved access to evidence-informed and trustworthy information about pregnancy and early parenting that complements in-person perinatal health care.
The launch of the Learning Centre coincides with National Breastfeeding Week (October 1-7), reinforcing PSBC’s commitment to supporting individuals and families in getting off to the best possible start with their infant feeding journey. Learning about breastfeeding and chestfeeding is a key component of early parenting. The Learning Centre provides comprehensive resources to help families make informed decisions about feeding their babies and includes topics such as:
- The importance of human milk
- Expressing and storing human milk
- The importance of skin-to-skin contact
The Learning Centre’s Infant Feeding “Journey” also explores the positive planetary health impacts of breastfeeding and chestfeeding – echoing the 2025 theme of National Breastfeeding Week, “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create sustainable support systems.”
The Learning Centre’s Infant Feeding Journey is the newest addition to PSBC’s suite of resources to protect, promote and support breastfeeding and chestfeeding.
