On October 2, 2017, Perinatal Services BC and the First Nations Health Authority hosted a stakeholder meeting to improve perinatal, maternal and infant mortality and morbidity response in BC.
The meeting was planned and organized by a small working group that included representation from Regional Health Authorities, FNHA, PHSA, and the BC Ministry of Health. At the meeting 53 healthcare providers, administrators, and researchers from across BC and representatives from two national organizations came together for a full day of discussions.
The meeting objectives were to:
- share current information about perinatal, maternal, and infant mortality rates and trends;
- explore provincial, national, and international good practice models for surveillance and response; and
- build a common vision for improving provincial and national surveillance and response and strengthen relationships to support action.
