BC Perinatal Database Registry Workshops

PDR 1: BCPDR Data Abstraction - Level 1:

This workshop is designed for Health Care Professionals that are new to the BCPDR. It includes an introduction to the BCPDR and step - by - step, hands on abstracting instructions. The participant that completes this workshop will be able to do current data abstraction at the hospital level.

 

PDR 2: BCPDR Data Abstraction Refresher:

This workshop is designed for Health Information Professionals that have previously done data abstraction and are returning and/or are currently doing data abstraction and feel that they would like a review of the fields, definitions, functions, etc. The participant that completes this workshop will be able to do current data abstraction at the hospital.

 

PDR 3: BCPDR Period End Functions:

This workshop is designed for Health Information Professionals that currently do data abstraction and would like training to enable them to do the period end functions (eg import of CIHI  into the PDR, corrections, data quality checks, running of Hospital Reports, export of production file to the Provincial PDR, etc.). The participant that completes this workshop will be able to complete period end functions at the hospital level.

 

PDR 4: Reporting - Level 1:

This workshop is designed for Health Information Professionals that currently do data abstraction and/or work with the data for reporting purposes. The workshop would include a review of the standard Hospital Reports available, the Perinatal Reporting Tool, introduction to some of the features of the Access relational database, development of basic Adhoc Access queries. The participant that completes this workshop will be able to do some basic reporting from the hospital PDR database(s).

 

PDR 5: Reporting - Level 2:

This workshop is designed for Health Information Professionals that currently do data abstraction and/or work with the data for reporting purposes. The workshop would focus on development of more complex Adhoc Access queries (including queries used for the Perinatal Reporting Tool) to generate required information from the hospital PDR database(s). The participant that completes this workshop will be able to do a full range of reporting from the hospital PDR database(s).

 

PDR 6: Clinical Practice - Show Me the Evidence:

This workshop will focus on utilizing BCPDR data in order to evaluate outcomes and trends in local practice for the purpose of improving care. The workshop will also include examples of the integration of evidence based information into the clinical decision making process. Participants will be provided with a demonstration of the BCPDR interactive reports and shown how this tool may be used to identify and compare a local hospital with similar sites or with provincial trends.

 

PDR 7: Delivering a Baby - How Complicated Can it Be:

This workshop will provide participants with an increased knowledge regarding the pathophysiological aspects and mechanisms of a delivery to enable interpretation of the chart documentation. The abstraction and reporting of this data, the outcomes and the role of Guidelines will be covered. The participant will have expanded knowledge which will assist them in abstracting and reporting on perinatal data.
