Terms of Reference

 

 

1.0  Purpose

The Perinatal Guidelines Committee is designated to provide oversight to perinatal guideline development including a guideline production plan, quality requirements, and monitoring progress of working committees. The committee also provides advice/oversight to guideline implementation and evaluation.

2.0  Authority

2.1  The committee is accountable to Perinatal Services BC, (formerly BCPHP) Executive Committee.

3.0  Mandate

3.1  To make decisions regarding topic priorities for perinatal clinical practice guideline development and produce a yearly plan for approval by the Executive Committee.

3.2  To develop/advise generic systematic processes for the development, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and evalutation of perinatal clinical practice guidelines.

3.3  To determine perinatal outcome indicators for guideline evaluation, establish objective benchmarks for those indicators, and inform the Perinatal Services BC (formerly BCRCP) Database Registry re: outcome indicators.

3.4  To make practice and education recommendations based on guideline evaluation and population health outcomes.

3.6  To identify appropriate stakeholders for specific guideline development working groups.

3.7  To guide and advise specific guideline development for working groups.

3.8  To network with stakeholders likely to influence perinatal clinical guideline development and utilization.

5.0  Meetings

5.1  Initially meetings will be held q2 months or at the call of the chair.

5.2  Minimum quarterly.

5.3  Chair will ensure scheduling of meetings and the distribution of agenda.

5.4  A majority  of Committee members (including the Chair) shall constitute a quorum.

5.5  Decisions are made through consensus. If consensus cannot be reached, decisions will be made through voting with a simple majority of those present.

6.0 Documentation Protocol

6.1  The maintenance of the minutes, agenda, and other documentation related to the Committee is the responsibility of the Committee Chair.

6.2  All action items are to be brought forward at subsequent meetings. It is the responsibility of the Committee to keep a bring-forward list. It is the responsibility of the Chair to ensure follow-up takes place for all action items.
